Our recent training program, Navigating Waves & Growing Forward, provided our Adult Volunteers with valuable tools to guide our members through emotional challenges and personal development. This interactive and hands-on series of sessions allowed participants to not only support others but also invest in their own well-being and self-growth.
Through a series of engaging sessions, participants delved into:
~ How to empower themselves as leaders to help members navigate difficult emotions.
~ The impact of emotions on daily lives and how to manage them effectively.
~ Strategies to support both themselves and their members in emotional regulation.
~ Setting realistic goals and creating actionable steps to achieve them.
~ Learning through hands-on activities that can be passed on to members.
~ Exploring breathwork and meditation as tools for stress relief and self-care.
~ Gaining access to a comprehensive toolkit for both personal use and member engagement.
In our first session, participants explored the deep connection between breath and overall well-being. Through guided breathwork exercises, they learned how to regulate their nervous system, cultivate inner balance and use mindful breathing to release tension. This uplifting practice helped relieve stress, naturally boosted endorphins, and left everyone feeling lighter, more energized, and refreshed.
During this session, participants engaged in the innovative LEGO Serious Play method, using the G.R.O.W. coaching model to:
Through creative storytelling, construction and metaphor, Adult Volunteers found a structured and engaging way to clarify their ambitions and make progress toward their personal and professional goals.
Difficult emotions can significantly impact our lives and the young people we work with. This session focused on transforming challenging emotions into adaptive mechanisms rather than letting them become destructive forces. Participants received training on various exercises that can be used with girls of all ages and engaged in hands-on practice. By the end of the session, each volunteer had a toolkit of activities to use whenever needed, ensuring they are well-equipped to support their members.
This training was an incredible opportunity for personal growth, skill-building and community strengthening. Adult Volunteers engaged in deep self-reflection, goal-setting and practical application of new skills. The interactive nature of the sessions ensured that everyone left feeling empowered and ready to implement what they learned within their guiding communities.
