Thinking Day in Malta: Celebrating Our Story

Every year on February 22nd, Girl Guides around the world celebrate World Thinking Day. It’s a special day to reflect on the friendships, values and history of the Girl Guiding movement. In Malta, our members marked this occasion by proudly wearing their Unit scarf to school or work, showing their pride in being part of a global sisterhood. This year’s theme, Our Story, encouraged our members to think about the past, present and future of their movement. It was a chance to share experiences, learn from one another and celebrate the unity that connects millions of Girl Guides worldwide.

By wearing their Unit scarf to school or workplace on 21st February, local members of the Malta Girl Guides (MGG) sparked curiosity among their classmates, teachers and colleagues. During morning assemblies, many had the chance to explain what being a Girl Guide means to them – helping others, learning new skills and making a difference in their communities. It was a great way to spread awareness about Girl Guiding and inspire others to join.

Thinking Day is also a time to remember the founders of the movement, Lord Robert Baden-Powell and Lady Olave Baden-Powell and their vision of young people working together to create a better world. Across Malta, Girl Guides took part in activities reflecting on the Guiding journey and the impact they have on their communities. As they proudly wore their Unit scarf, the members of the Malta Girl Guides showed that their story is part of something much bigger – a global movement of friendship, leadership and positive change!

On 22nd February, Girl Guides and Rangers came together to celebrate World Thinking Day through a day full of fun activities. All the thinking day events were organised by the MGG’s International Team led by International Commissioner, Chantelle Galea.

Happy Thinking Day to all!
