2023: A Special Year for MGG
As we step into the year 2023, it marks a remarkable milestone for Malta Girl Guides – our 100th anniversary! A century of empowering girls and young women, fostering leadership, and making a positive impact on communities.
The Centenary Team is currently hard at work, planning and organising a unique activity for every Section within MGG. From our youngest members to our Adult Volunteers, we have a plethora of exciting plans in the pipeline. At the heart of the celebrations lies the much-anticipated Centenary Camp scheduled for April!
Our centenary year is an exciting milestone for Malta Girl Guides, and therefore, we wanted to choose a theme that reflected our rich history and celebrated our members’ contributions. After much deliberation and a competition among our members, the theme of “100 Years of Stories” was chosen. This theme recognises the importance of storytelling MGG’s history and highlights the unique experiences and memories of our members. To complement the theme, we also held a competition to design a badge, and Averie Sant’s design was selected. Additionally, we want to give a special shout-out to the Rabat Rangers for coming up with the theme, which truly captures the essence of our centenary year.
In an age where social media connects us more than ever, we are excited to launch two social media campaigns: #100FactsofMGG and #100GirlsandWomenofMGG. The former promises to unveil 100 fascinating facts about MGG throughout the year, inviting everyone to delve into our rich history and learn about the journey that brought us to this milestone. On the other hand, #100GirlsandWomenofMGG will introduce a hundred members and ex-members of MGG. Through their stories, we will explore the profound influence that Guiding has had on their lives.
As we stand on the cusp of this momentous year, we invite you to join us in celebrating 100 years of Malta Girl Guides. From our humble beginnings to the profound impact we’ve made on countless lives, we are immensely proud of our journey!
