Outdoor Guiding Returns!
Although Covid-19 did not stop Guiding, and weekly online meetings were the norm during such extraordinary times, MGG could not wait to announce the day when members could start meeting each other again and enjoy some outdoors! And the day is finally here !
The Association has today announced that , as from the 1st of July, outdoor meetings for its members could resume and has issued a number of guidelines which should be followed. MGG informed its Adult Volunteers that this is a transition period where guidelines will be revised and updated periodically according to Public Health Regulations . Guideline issued were :
Do’s
- Online meetings for members/Adult Volunteers are still encouraged.
- Outdoor activities / outdoor meetings may resume.
- If transport is needed to reach venue, members may be dropped off by parents.
- Outdoor meetings are to be Sectional and work in Patrol clusters is encouraged.
- Adult Volunteer / member ratio is to be observed.
- A record of persons attending is to be kept.
- Some Adult Volunteers and members may be vulnerable persons or live with vulnerable persons. Respect their inability to be physically present.
- It is expected that all Units / Sections are now in contact with members either online or at outdoor meetings. Whilst each Unit is to discuss the way forward, each Section may decide on the best option for Adult Volunteers / members.
Don’ts
- No indoor meetings or use of Unit
premises
- No organised transport to be used
- No ‘whole Unit’ activities / mass events
yet
- No camping or sleepovers yet
- Members who are unwell are not to
join.
- Items / food are not to be shared
during meetings
Together with the above guidelines, MGG advised that the following general principles should also be adhered to :
- Social distancing is still suggested.
- Promote regular and thorough handwashing
- Encourage use of appropriate hand sanitizers (minimum 70% alcohol)
- General face protection using a mask or visor is advised
