The vibrant streets of Malta came alive on Sunday 21st April 2024, as hundreds of young scouts and guides, along with their leaders and mascots, gathered for the Annual Scout and Guide rally. This year held particular significance as it welcomed Her Excellency Myriam Spiteri Debono, the newly appointed president, to preside over the Annual Scout and Guide.
The day commenced with a thanksgiving mass at Floriana’s Parish Church, celebrated by His Grace, Bishop Joseph Galea Curmi. The Associations’ Gozo districts led the rally, followed by the Scout Fellowship, North District, South District and Central District.
Scout and Girl Guide groups converged in Floriana, falling into formation at the Granaries in preparation for the march-off at 10.45am. The parade then made its way to the traffic junction by the Independence Monument, passing by the Phoenicia Hotel and circling the Triton Fountain. As the groups proceeded through Valletta City Gate and marched down Republic Street, they were greeted by Her Excellency Myriam Spiteri Debono, who took the salute on the dais.
The parade continued through St George’s Square, with the groups turning right into Archbishop Street and then right again up Merchants Street. The rally concluded with the dispersal in front of Auberge de Castille and the area near St James Cavalier.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all participants, leaders and volunteers who contributed to making this event a memorable occasion. Your dedication continues to inspire and uphold the proud traditions of Girl Guiding.
