Meet Dawn Sammut, whose journey began at the age of four when she joined Malta Girl Guides. Starting with the 17th San Gwann Unit as a Dolphin Guide, Dawn’s early experiences in Guiding laid the foundation for a remarkable adventure that has now brought her to the breathtaking Swiss Alps.
Fast forward to today, Dawn serves as the Office Coordinator at Our Chalet, one of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts’ (WAGGGS) world centres.
“My job with WAGGGS has taken me to the Swiss Alps as Our Chalet’s Office Coordinator. I cannot begin to describe my time here.
Ever since starting working at Our Chalet, I have met people from all over the world, some of which I’ve had the pleasure to work with, either as volunteers or staff members. This is not to mention, the best part of working in the office here – our beloved cat, Skippy.
It has been a magical experience. Never had I though that I could look out my office window and see mountains, go walking along rivers, and be constantly surrounded by Girl Guides and Girl Scouts. One of my favourite experiences since I’ve been here is sledding on the Chalet hills and making snow angels.
No workday is ever the same, there is always a new adventure around the corner. Whether it’s hiking up a mountain, seeing cows on site, or meeting our scout neighbours from KISC.
Being at Our Chalet is a life changing experience, and I highly recommend those who are reading this to visit us. It is a place to learn, to grow, and most importantly, make friends. I am so grateful for my time with MGG, the skills I’ve developed through Guiding have led me here where I get to pass all I’ve learned to others.
Dawn’s journey from a young Dolphin Guide in Malta to her current role at Our Chalet is an inspiring testament to the power of Guiding. Her dedication, passion, and the invaluable skills she gained through Guiding have not only shaped her own path but also allowed her to enrich the lives of others on this incredible adventure!
