On the 21st of November, WAGGGS Europe Region welcomed 155 participants, including delegates, from 38 MOs, for the first virtual European General Meeting, and MGG was proudly represented by our Chief Commissioner Stephanie Anastasi and our International Commissioner Jeanelle Camilleri. This meeting is an important part of each WAGGGS World conference, and since this has been postponed to another year due to COVID 19, the Europe Region decided to hold this meeting virtually.
The Europe Region supports 64 national Girl Guide and Girl Scout organisations in 41 countries and reaches more than 1.2 million young people. During the EGM, the countries and members of the WAGGGS Europe Region had time to discuss motions and amendments and financial aspects of the regions. The European Committee also presented to the participants updates from various teams, the Budget for 2021 and also the financial reports. Through the WAGGGS mobile app, the Head of Delegations had the chance to vote for motions and other strategic matters. This was indeed another milestone for WAGGGS Europe – that of introducing online voting regarding such matters which clearly reflects how our movement is constantly moving forward and adapting itself to change.
Good vibes and positive feelings could be felt throughout the meeting – sisters and brothers in guiding were enthusiastic that despite the challenging times we are living in they still had the opportunity to meet and discuss the vision of guiding not only in their country but also on a European level.
