New Chief Commissioner and National Board elected for Malta Girl Guides

The Malta Girl Guides have elected a new Chief Commissioner, Deputy Chief Commissioners and National Board. The new Chief Commissioner Rachel Aquilina, took the lead of Malta’s largest association for girls and women, following acting Chief Commissioner, Claire Duff, earlier this year. Aquilina has been an active member since she was a child. She started her Girl Guiding journey with the Luqa Girl Guides. Later as an Adult Volunteer she worked within various working groups and took on various posts at National Board level including those of Programme Commissioner and South District Commissioner. The Chief Commissioner’s term is three years long and can be renewed for another three years.

MGG President Carmen Camilleri thanked the outgoing Chief Commissioner and National Board members for their commitment and hard work during their term of office. She also wished the best of luck to the new National Board members. Upon the news of her election, Aquilina, thanked all MGG members and Council members for their vote of confidence.

The Malta Girl Guides’ new National Board consists of Deputy Chief Commissioners Cynthia Duncan and Elaine Attard, Secretary Claire Formosa, Treasurer Noella Pisani, International Commissioner Chantelle Galea, Programme Commissioner Andrea Grima, Training Commissioner, Maureen Amoroso and Youth Committee Representative, Kristina Manicaro. At District level, the South District elected Antoniette Seychell as South District Commissioner and Stephanie Caruana as Deputy. The North District is represented by North District Commissioner Gwen Gatt and Deputy, Tamaia Micallef Mifsud The Central District is represented by Central District Commissioner Analise Scicluna and Deputy Katya Galea.
