Representing 10.8 million members across 153 countries, WAGGGS supports the development of future leaders and responsible global citizens through innovative programs and community action. For over 100 years, Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting have transformed the lives of girls and young women, equipping them with skills, confidence and opportunities to reach their full potential.

What WAGGGS Offers: WAGGGS offers a variety of empowering opportunities for girls and young women around the world. Through its innovative non-formal education programs, girls develop essential life skills, leadership abilities, and self-confidence, preparing them for the challenges of tomorrow. The organization places a strong emphasis on leadership development, providing training and mentorship to help young women become leaders in their communities and beyond. Additionally, WAGGGS advocates for gender equality, sustainability, and social change through its advocacy campaigns, empowering girls to take action on global issues. Finally, WAGGGS encourages community action, with initiatives that support girls and young women in addressing important topics like climate action, human rights, and education, helping them make a tangible difference in their lives and the world around them.

WAGGGS World Centres: WAGGGS has five World Centres that serve as hubs for international exchange, learning, and leadership development:

Each Centre provides unique programs and experiences, bringing together Girl Guides and Girl Scouts from around the world.

Malta Girl Guides and WAGGGS: Malta Girl Guides has been a proud full member of WAGGGS since 24th June 1972. In a certificate signed by Olave Baden-Powell, MGG pledged to adhere to the principles of the original promise and law as laid out by the founder Lord Robert Baden-Powell and committed to abiding by the Constitution and bye-laws of WAGGGS.

Over the years, Malta has contributed significantly to the leadership and governance of WAGGGS. Notably, Lara Tonna became the first Maltese Guide to serve on the World Board of WAGGGS as Chair of the Europe Region in 2010. Later, in 2013, Sharon O’Neill was elected as a member of the Europe Region WAGGGS, followed by Stephanie Darmanin in 2019, who was elected as a member of the Europe Region WAGGGS Committee. These milestones highlight the active role that Maltese adult volunteers have played in shaping the direction and development of WAGGGS, contributing to the global Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting movement.

Join Us in the Global Sisterhood: As part of WAGGGS, Malta Girl Guides (MGG) offers young girls and women opportunities to participate in international programs, leadership training and global advocacy initiatives. Being a member of WAGGGS means being part of a worldwide sisterhood that empowers and inspires girls to make a difference in their communities and beyond.
